At the start of 2020 Matt Cooper and I started setting up the Ply Riders Surf Club to write and share stories and images about the history of surf riding on wood. It seemed to us that this hasn't been done before - at least on one site.

We had planned to launch the website in the Spring but when COVID happened Matt needed to spend more time at his own media company, LBBonline, so we decided to delay the launch.  Some of the club merchandise has recently been spotted on social media - and people have asked if they can buy it - so I've set up a temporary club store at the Original Surfboard Co until the Ply Riders Surf Club site launches...

I am continuing to gather information and images about the wood boards and their amazing heritage.  I started researching the history of this type of surf riding back in 2007 when there was hardly any information at all online. What I did find then was mostly hidden away on Railway enthusiasts sites that revealed stunning artwork of surf riding images promoting the GWR and Southern Railway routes of the 1920s and 30s. It has been exciting to see more and more interest being shown about this type of surfing.

We would LOVE  to hear from you if you have any information or photos to share.
